I'm A New York City Girl! = )

Tickle.com test results:
Which City Matches Your Style?
Helen, your city style match is New York City The Big Apple.

It's the city that never sleeps. And like New York City, you're a gal on the go who's got lots going on. Motivated and driven, you're not afraid to work hard and put in the long hours to reach your goals. You have an edge that can go from uptown to downtown, 5th Avenue to the West Village, and anywhere in between. Whether you're in work attire, party clothes, or weekend wear, you make a stylish statement that's sophisticated, elegant, and all your own. As they say — if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere!

I shouldn't be surprised with the results. I love New York. So many places to be and to see. I've been to other places. Good times with great memories attached to them but New York City will always be home. Born and raised in the city that never sleeps. I'm a true blue native.. But that dosen't mean I won't be happy somewhere else.

What Flower Are You?

I love flowers. A few years ago ago i found this book on the history, meaning, and stoies behind 100 flowers.

This got me thinking. If I was a flower, what would I be.

What Flower Are You?

You are a nurturer and all around natural therapist.People see you as their rock. And they are able to depend on you.You are a soothing influence. You can make people feel better with a few words.Your caring has more of an impact than even you realize.

Buddha and Friendship

Here's a little Eastern wisdom for my friend Ben. By the way, this is his blog-http://halfricanamerican.blogspot.com/

What would Buddha do to strengthen a friendship?

A friend in need walks seven steps to helps.A real comrade walks twelve to give us aid.A person walking weeks with us is kin;Walking longer they become ourself.

-Jataka 83

Perhaps the question could be changed to "What wouldn't Buddha do to strengthen a friendship?" since he would do so much. Walking with our friends when they us, we grow closer. Buddha tells us when friends need something, we should give it, not just to gratify them, but to make a connection to something deeper in both them and ourselves.Buddha emphasizes how that connection between friends should be fostered since it reveals what we really are. After all, what is a friend but a person in whom we see the underlying unity of all living things? We love our friends because we understand them, we share with them, we feel connected to them. Aiding friendship leads to comradeship, which then leads to kinship, which eventually reveals that the separate selves of friends and us are not really separate at all. Walking together, being there for each other, we realize we cannot be ourselves apart from them.

What Do You Want To Do With Your Life?

In the book and movie, A Walk to Remember, Jamie Sullivan made a list of the 100 things she wanted to do with her life.

This got me thinking, "What would be on my list"? You only live once in each lifetime , so one should make the most of it.

I recently found this website called www.43things.com

Here's the preliminary list of things I want to do. Short but respectable.

pretty_in_pink wants to do 17 things
Witness a miracle
create something beautiful
Meet the Dalai Lama
Be blessed by the Pope
explore the libraries in the Vatican City
study philosophy
practice latin
Visit Hong Kong
pratice chinese calligraphy
chinese paper art
origami
travel more
Visit Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Florence and Sienna.
See the Great Pyramids
study Buddhism, Catholicism, and Judaism more
Be happy and make others happy too
become immortalized as a flavor of ice cream

Three things that I already did but want to do again are
make 1000 paper cranes
make 1000 paper stars
make my own clothes

I'm not kidding about the last wish. Maybe a sweet cold creamy confection in a lovely shade of pink. A berries and cream type flavor. Mmmmm...... Considering I'm so weight conscious, I'm thinking something along the line of Haagen-Dazz's Rasberry Sorbet and Vanilla Frozen Yogurt swirl but blended together to make berry pink color.

I can see it now-"Pretty in Pink Berry Frozen Yogurt" =)

Shopping and Dining In Chinatown

Today on my way to school after work I went to Chinatown to do some shopping. I wanted to get some good food for cheap while I was there. As I was walking toward Canal St. I found a store that had traditional Chinese dresses for cheap. I was thrilled when I found one in my size in pink. What made me happier was the price. $10. YEA!!!!!!!!!! By the way, it was the only one fitting both criteria.

As for lunch, I got a bento box lunch for $3.95 and a bottle of green tea for $1.29 at Delux Food Market . For dessert I got iced lemon water for $1.95 at Fay Da Bakery.

Isn't Chinatown great or what?

Signature Color

My Tickle.com signature color results

Hi everyone! I just took a signature color test. No surprise, my signature color is pink. Pink chiffion to be exact. There's even a matching profile. Check it out.

What's Your Signature Color?

Helen, your signature color is Pink Chiffon. There's nothing saccharine about you — your sweetness is one hundred percent natural! A gentle, thoughtful romantic like you must be paired with a color that's soft and warm — but still has a subtle sophisticated sheen. That's why Pink Chiffon is the perfect color for you! You're probably known for making the most of every situation and trying to see the best in people. But while you may be cheerful and innocent at times, you're nobody's fool. You may see the world through rose-colored glasses, but you can still see, after all. While you make wise insights time after time, it's probably your good nature and perpetual optimism that are what you're known for and what make you a joy to be around. Even those who sometimes make fun of your Pollyanna-like proclamations will turn to you when they need a friend and some cheering up. So keep pink, Chiffon. With you around, the world's a better place!
